Eighty-four Fairfax County Public Schools students have been named to the 2012 Virginia All-State Band, and 37 students have been named to the 2012 Virginia All-State Orchestra. Both groups will perform April 12-14 at James River High School in Richmond. Nine students were named alternates to the All-State Band, and two were named alternates to the All-State Orchestra.

Local students from West Potomac High School are:

• Kevin Prescott

Prescott was chosen for the orchestra. The other students were named to the band.
