Colonial Republican Women of Alexandria Donate to John Marshall Library

A delegation from Colonial Republican Women of Alexandria presented the John Marshall Library in eastern Fairfax County with a donation of new books on November 1, 2012. Colonial Republican Women, a local club affiliated with the Virginia Federation of Republican Women and the National Federation of Republican Women, provided the books in participation with the Mamie Eisenhower Library Project. CRW was represented at the presentation by Debbie Bodlander, President; Nancy Almasi, 2nd Vice President; Kathleen Chevalier, Secretary; and Alison Katzman, Mamie Eisenhower Library Project Chair.

John Marshall Branch Manager, Kathryn Alleman and Assistant Branch Manager, Susan Lisowski chose the books from a recommended list provided by the National Federation of Republican Women for the Mamie Eisenhower Library Project and accepted the books at the presentation.

The chosen books were:

No Apology: The Case for American Greatness, by Mitt Romney;

Condoleezza Rice: A Memoir of My Extraordinary, Ordinary Family and Me, by Condoleezza Rice;

Patrick Henry: First Among Patriots, by Thomas S. Kidd;

1812: The Navy's War, by George C. Daughan; Capitalism and Freedom: Fortieth Anniversary Edition, By Milton Freidman; and

The Man in the Middle, by Timothy S. Goeglein.

The Mamie Eisenhower Library Project is the National Federation of Republican Women’s oldest program, celebrating more than 45 years of book donations to schools and libraries. Such donations promote literacy at all age levels.
