A team of 6 eighth graders from Carl Sandburg Middle School represented their school, this community and the State of Virginia at the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals at Iowa State University this past weekend. Team members include Michael Bell, Emily Carbone, Grace Kennedy, Jonathan Gannon, Alex Richwine and Jade Schaub. Odyssey of the Mind is an international creative problem solving competition.Tens of thousands of students from around the world participated in Odyssey of the Mind this year. Just over 800 teams (about 5,500 students) earned the privilege of competing at World Finals. The Sandburg team performed brilliantly, finishing in 4th Place out of 64 teams in their problem and division. The team would like to thank Mr. Yarborough, Mrs. VanOrden, the teachers and staff at Sandburg M.S., the school PTA and the entire community. Their very generous support made the team's participation possible!
